A city that has built museums out of its own shame and erected commemorative plaques on every pavement. Where the grandchildren of those who endured that history are once again marching in unison through the suburbs, chanting slogans about a people who do not exist. Squares were already manned before the demonstrators even arrived. Bodies that resist, bodies that march, bodies that the state would like to control.
Berlin presents itself as a lesson.
Perhaps it is — but not the one it believes itself to be.
